This is a thread from last year needs to be revisited. If you smell anything funky on the plane don't just assume it's a pack filter (it could be). That's a very dangerous assumption for you, your crew, and your passengers.
I heard that one of our captains recently died after an exposure to this. I have not verified the info. Allegedly, he and the FO had toxic fumes in the cockpit and went to the hospital. He never recovered.
No idea how accurate or true this is. Anyone know more details?
