Yes, I understand all of the tradeoffs in contract negotiations painfully well. I don't buy the argument that this doesn't help DALPA; several here have posted how much better DALPA's openers are dollarwise. It's a lot easier to get a higher dollar number if a competitor already has that payscale.
As far as the section 6 stuff, DALPA can go for pilot pay being the full 10.85% of revenues in their compensation package.
Is this TA perfect? No. But it's good. Perfect is the enemy of good.
