Do what you love. Don't listen to skyhigh. I doubt he even has any cubicle experience. If he does it probably was a failure just like his airline career. All the pilots that I know have perfectly happy family lifes. Its all depends on who your married to. Skyhigh probably has some high maintenance, clingy type of wife that can't stand if he leaves for a day.
My time at a regional airline was my cubicle. It is the same type of corporate boredom chamber. Everything is highly scripted. There are forms to fill out and uniforms to be worn. If you don't like conformity and a deeply embedded corporate culture then you will not like the regionals.
