Statistically speaking, the guaranteed interviews over the years have proven to be "less than worthless". You have a better chance off the street than with your guaranteed interview. First of all the interviewers do not like to be told who they are going to hire, and they don't want to cause double training events because if they take one of their express guys they have to pay to train him and pay to train his replacement.

In late 1991 Pan Am and Midway both went under and as part of certain deals with the Mexico routes, and with ALPa they pilots were given interviews. Pan Am pilots had a 15% hiring rate and Midway had a 14% hire rate. Off the street was around 25%. Basically they took the pilots that fit certain categories that the government was forcing them to meet quotas on. The rest were mainly tossed.

Other guaranteed interviews were all about the same. For some reason every few years they have these flows and in-between they have their ways out of the flows. A guaranteed interview is really a negative thing.
