In late 1991 Pan Am and Midway both went under and as part of certain deals with the Mexico routes, and with ALPa they pilots were given interviews. Pan Am pilots had a 15% hiring rate and Midway had a 14% hire rate. Off the street was around 25%. Basically they took the pilots that fit certain categories that the government was forcing them to meet quotas on. The rest were mainly tossed.
Other guaranteed interviews were all about the same. For some reason every few years they have these flows and in-between they have their ways out of the flows. A guaranteed interview is really a negative thing.
Wow, your post is so ridiculous I hardly know where to start...
"You have a better chance off the street than with your guaranteed interview." Better chance of what??? If you are referring to
actual interview pass rate then duh, they CHOSE your app out of thousands to come in for an interview... Arguably the hardest part of getting a job at a major. A guaranteed interview gets you in the door, in front of those thousands. Of course the percentage of people from a guaranteed interview that get a CJO will be lower vs. OTS because they normally wouldn't have even called you in the first place... So tell the 300+ guys at Endeavor with CJO's that having a guaranteed interview is "less than worthless". Reality check needed for you.
