Get it out of your head that you owe the company anything more than what the manuals, FARs, and contract explicitly say you owe them--please.
The airline only makes money on completion factor and on-time performance. So I would say being on time is kind of important for our company to succeed. I have seen speeds in the box/release showing .62 at 32,000ft. No way in hell I'm going to fly those speeds because it says to do so. Its bellow green dot and pitch is about 6 1/2 degrees. Is it saving fuel at those high pitches angles? no. Its actually an easy way to get downgraded if we pull a skywest and get the shaker because we follow those speeds religiously. I totally agree with you on the taxi speeds and C.Y.A with the GOM.
