I never heard anything about Skywest controlling the E-175 market. Republic is the largest operator of E-175. Envoy is getting 40 from what I heard. Wikipedia shows 40 orders and 90 options for Envoy.
Maybe what they meant was that since Skywest has so many orders and options (including the E2), other orders have to get in line, but that's the only thing I can think of. Compass also has a good number of E175s.
