Based on AA's retirement schedule and projected 2017 hiring, about 360 envoy Captains will be flowing that year as well. This is in addition to the attrition to DAL, UAL, Spirit etc.
Management claims that they 250 upgrades planned for this year is based on hiring only 15 pilots per month. (We have yet to see the actual bid but that is their claim) So far for the last few months we have gotten twice that amount. It stands to reason then, so long as we have new hires replacing them, we should be upgrading new Captains to replace those leaving on a one to one ratio.
Sorry. Have to correct your numbers a bit. In 2016 Envoy will likely flow 300-320 Captains. As for Envoy street hires at AA in 16, it won't be much more than a handful. Maybe 12. Certainly not 50. I would say Envoy attrition from both seats to other carriers in 16 would be around 100.
2017 will be a totally different story. The flows will consist of the remaining 824 and the I would expect it to slow significantly. Maybe 8 or 10 a month if we are lucky.
Bottom line, unless you want to stagnate in the right seat for years at $40 an hour capped at a 4 year pay scale, I wouldn't recommend Envoy.
