I want to chime in one more time about the 'B Scale' in the TA. That steaming pile of bovine dung has been peddled by one person (and bobbleheaded by a few other NO voters). That's completely untrue.
A B Scale is a completely different pay rate table for doing the same job at the same company, entirely based on date of hire. The way the B Scale worked (example only using fictitious numbers) was that someone hired in 1984 would be paid $18/hr as a first year 727 FO (A Scale). Someone hired in 1985 had a completely separate pay rate chart which was less than anyone hired before him, so he was paid $12/hr as a first year 727 FO (B Scale). The A Scale and B Scale were to remain in effect forever ... top pay for a 747 Captain would be hypothetically $125/hr on the A Scale and $85/hr on the B Scale. Same company, only difference was the date of hire.
