Add to that, the C-Series has been on life support for a while - that can't be good for a prospective buyer's confidence. But I agree - if we do get them and the program is running smoothly (two big if's!), the 100 and 300 sound like good long-term airframes to operate.
I have had mixed experience with CRJs and associated support as well. However, the C-Series is another animal. Recall that the delay was largely caused by an engine issue unrelated to Bombardier. The airplane stood idle for 6 months (full salaries) while they worked on the engine issue.
Regardless, the performance of the C-Series line is far more impressive than what Embraer can provide at this point. This airplane is extremely versatile (Hawaii capable from the West Coast), Eco-friendly and passenger friendly. Up front, you are sitting in a wide cockpit with sidesticks, huge windows for visibility, auto throttles and a Collins Pro Line Fusion system with synthetic vision found in the latest Global Express Bizjet. This ain't a bigger CRJ or Q400.
The thing to remember is that Bombardier needs a big deal - UAL has the leverage in any negotiation. With the Republic slots available, UAL could probably pick them up for cheap. Once SWISS takes its first airplanes soon, other airlines will show more interest.
