Pure economics, my man. They ran out of qualified guys willing to drop 8 large on a ball cap. I am glad they did away with it. As much as it pains me to say it, the employee/management relationship here is pretty much just like any other big airline. The only "culture" we still have is all crewmember to crewmember and a good relationship with our customers. The GO is so far disconnected from the front line worker bee it isn't even funny. It is painful to watch sometimes.

I'm not buying. I think there were plenty of qualified guys. I think they have the blinders on and think it is like the old days when it was the top dog and everyone wanted to be there. They stopped the requirement because they finally got people in training that could sign off the type. Kind of like how JetBlue has guys with several thousand hours applying and for a marketing gimmick they hired a handful of 0 time guys that they are going to take all the way to the cockpit.
