The cs is a very capable airplane. United has no use for a 100 seat jet that can go 3000 miles, not its target audience. It's not going to happen.
Some might argue the 737 wasn't intended for transcontinental flights, overwater to the islands, or now the max version destined to be flown across the pond by Norwegian. Or the fact that in March of this year United was studying replacements for transatlantic service 757 aircraft and the MAX came up in discussions.
Augmented in a 737 cockpit sounds amazing!
