A very good friend of mine who flies UAL hates the RJ airplanes and, after a long conversation, I don't get it. I think the underlying issue is he and the other business people think the small jets are somehow below them, a step down in status.
Personally in order of comfort I find an aft seat in the super guppy(-900) is one of the worst experiences in commercial aviation. The next in line are the Spirit/Frontier non reclining plastic seats. I would rather fly in a full two and one RJ over these any day. Now consider a middle seat in a full wide body on a 15 hour flight, the destination better be worth it.
That being said a 757 aft seat in a full airplane is no picnic either.
The real motto is, "if you want cheap seats then there's a price to pay. "
Now what do I think of the guppy jump seat? Better than buying a seat when commuting.
