It's relative to other regional carriers reserve systems. They have to award proffers in seniority order and have to call RAPs in reverse seniority order. In the end, we are still working for a regional airline. But yes, I do agree, there is still much room for improvement.

Personally, I think anyone looking to enter the 121 world today should be thinking more long term. As much as the reserve system will affect someone's life now, in 20 years, while flying wide body international flights on the 777, I don't think someone will remember their life on reserve at whatever regional. One has to balance between pay and qol life now with whatever course they feel will get them to a mainline seniority list the quickest (and with varying degrees of certainty).

Will envoy honor the flow or stop? Will RAH declare bankruptcy or shrink? Will Mesa still be able to attract new hires without increasing compensation? Will Commutair be bought by another carrier? In the end, I think one can only make an educated guess and hope for the best. If you would have told me years ago that TWA would be out of business, US Air would merge with AA, that AirTran would one day be Southwest and that a Colgan pilot would one day "flow" to Delta, I would have never believed it. Crazy Industry.
