Assuming worst case that I have to meet normal ATP 1500hr mins (rather than 750hr for US military). Can any of that 1500hrs be done in the sim? I've already got over 100hrs in a full motion Cat D sim here in the USA.
I've had some contact from a regional saying they would accept an application from me using a FAA Verified EASA CPL ME/IR and 1st class medical, and they would pay for the CTP-ATP course. Should I be taking advantage of this and do a couple of years in the regionals? Or should I be paying for this course myself and trying to apply to Majors? I reckon I will only have about 1500hrs total but 700-800 of it on heavy 4-eng turbine (as a co-pilot).
Thoughts/opinions welcome. Might put this on a Civvy thread too.

1. Probably better to ask your question in other forum as this is mainly for USAF transitioning and you are in a totally different category.
2. Even if you were coming from the U.S. military, no major is going to hire you with less than 1500 hours total time, let alone 1500 turbine. Best bet is to go the regional route right away and let them pay for your ATP.
3. No idea if the sim time counts toward the ATP. Maybe go ask the FAA.
Good luck. You probably wouldn't need to spend too long at the regionals. But that's your best bet. If you got hired by a major with your hours now, that would meet the true definition of a pilot shortage and we're not quite there yet.
Choose your regional wisely. It can make all the difference.
