Not that I don't disagree with going to a low-cost carrier. But how many times do you want to be at the bottom of the list. Do you really think the current hiring spree is going to continue. The world is not currently covered in rainbows. And the US economy is crap at best. The majors are positioned to weather a storm, obviously as crappy as the Regional's are, they will benefit from an economic downturn, which sucks, but legacy airline management obviously knows they can get more regional feed for $0.50 raises at the majors. Low cost carriers will shrink if the economy buckles anymore. So yes, if you are at a low cost carrier with decent quality of life, then it is better than a regional. But if your ambitions are to go past a low cost carrier and have good quality of life, then find the quickest upgrade right now and get to a major. This hiring spree will not last for that long.
