They're coming because management can still advertise a quick upgrade even though it's really only available to pilots with 1,000 hrs 121 already. That and there's no interview so it's easy to get hired and probably a little SJS mixed in.

Major SJS! Especially when the majority tout the fact that you need to get in, get your time and get out of Mesa. However these are same people that proceed to wait and wait all the while making excuses for why they do not want the CRJ for upgrade. Literally pilots hired around the May 2015 mark have taken the upgrade award on the CRJ. Meanwhile droves of qualified guys hang on for the EJET all the while stating that they can't wait to get out of Mesa.
Cue the excuses.
