ALPA has approval or disapproval of any new uniforms or new vendors. However, if he company kept the same vendor, the way the contract was written, ALPA had no say. They found a loop hole. So, once again, Jeff went cheap and now we live with the results.
I also grew up in San Mateo, and regularly am able to go the Murphy and Hartilius shop. They said they had no idea any one would ever buy the crap they offered UAL at bargain prices. They also apologize every time I'm there.
So, the point of this story is, ALPA and the uniform committee did not have any input to our current uniform. It wasn't for lack of trying. Thanks Jeff! All Jeffed up again.
That's sad. I actually had my UAL interview suit custom made by MH back in the day. They did nice work. Wonder how the tailor shop side is these days? Rightly or wrongly, the garbage they turn out for uniforms has totally driven their reputation down in my book.
