It has nothing to do with "generational blaming."
It is about maturity. By definition the younger you are the more immature that you are. With larger numbers of younger Pilots getting hired we are getting more and more immature idiots that think talking on an emergency frequency is funny - it is pathetic.
This problem is only now reaching epidemic proportions and we have had guard for over 50 years - ask yourselves why?
Why do we not hear it over the oceans - not as many young Pilots flying over the ponds.
Make no mistake - I am sure that over 95% of the young Pilots are extremely professional but unfortunately a few buffoons are tarnishing the image of a lot of professional pilots.
Finally it does not matter if you are the crusty old a-hole acting as the self appointed guard police or a 23 year old punk with a stunted sense of humor - both are wrong. If you hear someone mistakenly broadcast on guard a simple "Check you frequency" works well and is about all that we should ever hear on guard other then legitimate ATC requests and emergencies.
