Not to derail the thread, but it would be nice to negotiate for our retirees to have access to the jumpseat on personal status. I know we don't have 'cabin' seats for guys not holding a current medical, but we used to carry non-pilots in all our jumpseats before. Has that ever been brought up in negotiations?

When I retire I'm going to travel civilized and buy real tickets. Probably first class on anything over 5 hours (that's what I've gotten used to

). I want to die with zero in my bank account - the money equivalent of a zero sick balance at retirement. Sooner or later you just need to stop the cheap-ass pilot madness.
Hell, I think I'll buy a USA today EVERY day, too. Just to be extra crazy.
