Nope, what I will insinuate is that if you put a golden in a bad home it could be a bad dog too, I have seen exactly that. You get qualifiers like this because of media attention that does get focused on these dogs.
Mine came from a shelter at approx 4 years old. Scarred from nose to tail, especially on the muzzle, neck and flanks. She can't be trusted around other dogs unknown to her, but otherwise is a sweet, happy, playful loving dog with an extremely soft mouth (meaning there are zero issues with hand feeding) Of the people I know with these dogs this does not appear to be an anomaly with the exception that her exceptional dog aggression is higher than other people I know.
Temperament tests on the three breeds is in the same range as a golden.
