It is an improvement to the reserve system as a whole. Better reserve parameters, ie using some kind of formula to determine how many people actually need to be on reserve on any given day. A result of this would be better ability to trip trade for line holders, but it would also mean a normal amount of short calls for reserves.

I was not expecting that to be part of the extension anyway, but I think we can all agree that it does need to be fixed at some point. It is fixed at Delta, and last time I checked all of their flights were still operating and the airline hasn't come to a screeching halt.
I DO agree with you that it needs to be fixed. For sure. But the company has proved over time it doesn't matter HOW many reserves they have, the answer is ALWAYS "no coverage". It wouldn't matter if reserve were "fixed" in this TA. There would still be no trip trading relief without specifically addressing the fact that the company controls what the threshold is for trip trading, and they simply always make it unattainable.
