Repeatedly I have heard the FedEx is "almost desperate" for pilots from people on the inside (I don't believe one iota). Further, I have heard on many occasions that I should expect a call from them any day since I have heavy Boeing and international time; not happening. Further, there are hundreds and hundreds of people just like me at Atlas/Polar, Southern, Florida West, foreign contracts etc.
I've also seen that, like always has been the case for FedEx, about 90% of new hires are current or ex-military.
Basically, what's the deal over there? I know hiring is ramping up, but what are they looking at? It's so HR algorithm driven that it's maddening. Unless someone can check about 12 boxes of check pilot/chief pilot stuff, it's seems unattainable.
A couple of things, the breakdown for hiring is about 60/40 mil to civilian. We are short on pilots but I wouldn't use the word desperate. I hear thousands of very qualified apps still on file and classes are starting to show up on a regular basis.
The most difficult thing for most FedEx pilots is we all have "a very qualified" person we are sponsoring and we can't do anything to help. I know plenty of wide body captains that have been here for over 20 yrs that are wiling to go the distance to get someone an interview and nothing, crickets. The VP posted today that the current process is under review. Not sure what that means but the big mystery is how to get a golden Wonka ticket.
But with that said, there is no shortage of apps or people accepting the job offers for regardless of their background.
