Just put him on the ignore list like everyone else does. LOL, you're right. I'm sorry. I know I shouldn't poke the crazy old man but I recently came to the end of the internet. I'm really board and getting his blood pressure up is the only fun I get to have anymore.
I'll do my best to stop engaging him directly. As we do in the cockpit though, I will still have to make reference to his eccentric ways for my personal enjoyment. I usually start out with a good Carl story, then I'll move over to a Commander Ted Story, I'll tell the one about the Leather Jacket if things get slow, but invariably we end up laughing about eaglefly/thrustlever. When things settle down and the is a long period of silence, I usually say, "Hey, did you ever hear about the Kennedy Steamer?" That generally gets things going again.
