Hate to rain on the parade but ...... I thought the guy had heartburn and using it for his reason for the respite. Turns out he did have a condition that required the transplant. Bad assumption on my part but the guy really doesn't have a track record here at United except his board performance(no record) and I really don't believe in coincidence.
You can believe what you want about leaving guidance to the underlings but I highly doubt it. More like the Board giving the direction down to and controlling Hart. Yes, whether it's a $30B corporation or a $50K bakery, the boss has a heart attack, his focus is on self preservation and family. I don't think you'll find either jumping on hang-grenades nor would it be expected.
