I like the product but I am a little nervous that wallstreet and our new leadership are going to be pushing us towards higher margins. Frontier fits 230 seats on an A321 and Spirit is cramming in 218. Frontier is cramming 186 on a regular 320 which compares to our "high density" 321 at 199 pax.
I like the idea of us growing to 300 planes but I don't see us being aggressive enough to compete directly with every airline that is also growing.
Have you ridden on Spirit lately? I just rode in the back of one of their 319's. I was in the middle seat. I'm 6' and 185. It was one of the most uncomfortable 3 hours of my life. My knees were firmly pressing into the seat back pocket. So much so that I couldn't put my book in the pocket.
Our product is how we make our money. Most legroom, free drinks and snacks, tv's, wifi, and now Mint first class service. I hope we never change that. Flying on us is definitely worth the extra few bucks.
