Think of this. Operating costs are one of the big advantages Delta has over United. Delta management now has the ability to raise operating costs at United Airlines by as much as they want by giving Delta pilots a raise (it has to be more than 20% over next 4 years, and must be implemented by Jan 1, '18). And if it is offset by profit sharing reduction, it doesn't count.
At the very least, they can't argue that there will be a cost disparity between pilot groups.
