Pilots are prohibited from consuming alcohol:

• When traveling as a jumpseater, whether occupying a seat on the flight deck or in the cabin or if entering/leaving the flight deck while in flight.

• Anytime while on duty and for eight (8) hours prior to reporting for duty. “Duty” includes all of the following:

– All flights

– While on Reserve status

– Any simulator or fixed base training event, whether conducting or receiving the training/evaluating

– Any formal training in the classroom or non-flight training device (e.g., door trainer)

– Deadheading home or to a layover, unless the following conditions are met:

♦ Out of uniform.

♦ The flight is airborne.

♦ If a line-holder, is not scheduled to fly for at least 12 hours after arrival.
