If you chose not to, that is on you. We all have choices, there are tons of options working in the industry, but we are all adults and have to weigh the pros and cons of each decision. It's completely within your rights to commute, and I did it for close to 15 years but it was always a choice. Nobody can force you to commute, and everyone off probation has a contractual right to be moved on the companies dime to your domicile.
Yes, reserve can be for a variety of reasons and out of one's control. Whether that period is short in duration or longer, are you really advocating a pilot burn a career move over something that could last 3 months or three years?. We hire and furlough at the drop of a hat. With all that fluctuation, we should uproot the family?

Like it or not, someone will be the in the bottom 15%. Whether as a new hire, forced into it, or by choice, a large percentage of our group could be faced with reserve. They pay dues and should be represented.

I swear I don't recognize this pilot group anymore.
