As far as job fairs- I agree that's getting old. This last 2 months I've been to 3 interviews and now have a choice of where I want to go and I've never been to a job fair for any of these airlines.
Maybe I've been lucky (most likely) and maybe I have decent experience. I'd like to think that's what got me the job not paying to go talk to a recruiter for 5 min.
But hey whatever it takes. I don't blame anyone for going to a job but I don't like companies requiring it. It's like an application fee.
