AerisArmis - "Why would anyone go against their will? If you have a sick kid, sick spouse, sick parent, sick dog, marriage problems, ****ed off wife, or any of a million reasons that would cause you undue stress, call in sick."

AA, you go right ahead and try that. Just see how quickly you'll be called in to your chief pilot's office. Any bets on how many days off without pay you'll get nailed with.
Sorry AA, but that is a totally specious (superficially plausible, but actually wrong) argument. There is absolutely no way management would let you get away with calling in sick unless someone in your immediate family was on their death bed.
In addition, why should we have to burn our entire year's sick leave to avoid being forced to spend 720 hours, or 30 days time away from base (TAFB), while only getting paid for 15 days TAFB.

AA - "Nobody really knows if STV will be needed or if so, how many crews are involved. It could be 2 or 20, but if it does come to pass, and it presents a huge problem for you, waive the safety flag."

Sorry Bud, but even if the number is only one, it is one too many. Especially if it is you. Good luck waiving the safety flag.
