Why would anyone go against their will? If you have a sick kid, sick spouse, sick parent, sick dog, marriage problems, ****ed off wife, or any of a million reasons that would cause you undue stress, call in sick. If being away from your family for 30 days would in any way interfere with your ability to SAFELY operate the jet, then you are by definition, "sick" and SHOULD indicate that to whomever the black hats are that want to non-vol you over there. Nobody really knows if STV will be needed or if so, how many crews are involved. It could be 2 or 20, but if it does come to pass, and it presents a huge problem for you, waive the safety flag. Nobody should have to fly with an angry, stressed out pilot who had difficulty concentrating on the job at hand.
Are you serious. Hopefully you are being incredibly sarcastic. If not, this might go down in history as the stupidest argument I have ever seen. Basically, your answer to the LOA is call in sick. Gotchya. Nice.
