The FAA does not want PSA to operate the 200's and 700/900's interchangeable with the same pilots. It is causing a variety of problems, including several potentially disastrous incidents lately.
What incidents were those? Feel free to PM.
I personally don't think it's as big a deal as I used to. I don't necessarily agree with it, but I don't think it is unsafe.
And as far as the "why"? It is an issue deeper than just exactly what the FAA wants for PSA. The complexity of just such an agreement when it comes to our union and our own seniority at PSA would likely make that idea a complete non-starter. Would they perhaps offer them pay commiserate with their years of service at Whiskey? I could see that. But this is all besides the point that I simply don't think that many would come to PSA. Why give up pay and qol for a lateral move? It's not like Whiskey would just shut the doors overnight. With the amount of hiring at the legacies and majors over the next couple years, I'm sure many there will have an opportunity to move up and out of this regional rat race.
