Hello Everyone,
Getting ready to retire from my reserve unit and am contemplating a move to Northern VA this summer.
It's tough to get a feel for the area from the internet, but we are looking in Loudoun County.... Ashburn, Aldie, maybe down towards Haymarket. Have 3 kids in elementary school so a good school system is our priority.
Can anyone familiar with the area suggest some neighborhoods to check out? More importantly, any areas to avoid?

I have lived in Ashburn and retired a few years back from USAF (Pentagon)… live about 15 minutes from the employee lot. Feel free to PM me your details and I'll give you a call back. Bottom line is there are a lot of neighborhood and towns to choose from… really depends on what type of home, how big a lot, how much you willing to pay, how far a drive, etc. Most areas in Ashburn are pretty safe bets… around Leesburg the neighborhoods go from really nice to a slum within miles. I'd stay away from the Sterling/Dulles mall area… big picture I'd stay west of Hwy 28.
