As you go through life you will always work with people of all ages. GET USED TO IT. Learn from everyone you come in contact with. That's something from an old guy who's been flying 25 years. And no I'm not an expert I'm learning everyday from all the pilots I fly with. Even the young smart *** punks who think they are gods gift to aviation.
So playing music at a reasonable volume makes a captain unprofessional? Seriously, get out of here. It takes literally 5 minutes to get an airplane ready if you don't have a can full of MEL's to look up. Just because you may be new and can't wrap your mind around things doesn't mean everyone else is on your level.
Pulling out their phone when taxiing ON TO THE RUNWAY is a whole different thing, though.
