Realistically I don't think we'll get worse. I think their goal is to get everyone riled up and scared and use the amalgamation threat to get us to accept a marginally better contract vs fighting for a lot better.
Agreed. I am not getting worked up about it just yet. However, I understand how it feels for the guys who have put 5-10 years here and have stuck around (into their early 50s) with the hope things will get better. They have invested a lot and stand to lose a lot.
I do recognize a very real possibility of things deteriorating. I DO think we will see the company try and come after us to work more days. I've heard they want 19 a month because "our office staff works 19 a month..." But that's just a rumor.
I haven't been here very long but it's very obvious to me that our union gets bent out of shape and worked up very easy. They do this intentionally to rile us up and I don't think it's productive or helpful.
