Looking at the projected numbers Dtw will grow from 151 to 167 320 FOs, while 737 is 105 to 110. Nyc 320 is 76 to 84 while 737 stays at 163. MSP 320 goes from 268 to 303. So it appears the 320 is growing while the 737 is stagnant (I didn't look at any other bases). These numbers are what is current vs their August projection. Pay is pretty much a wash but reserve guarantee looks to about average 5 more a month on 320. The lure of a bigger and more comfortable/quiet cockpit of 320 is enticing, but so is the familiarity of 737.
Basically just talking out loud here.
I wouldn't worry about staying on the 737 for ease of training. The training on all the fleets is good. If you have a good attitude you will make it through.
The future is hard to predict as far as what aircraft will get you to MSP the soonest. The commute to DTW from MSP may be tougher than NYC due to the number of commuters. Someone else will have a more accurate assessment on that than I do though.
If it is going to take a year+ to hold MSP in any equipment I would seriously consider the 717. That category is projected to grow and you will gain seniority fast. There is almost unlimited opportunity for greens slips right now. If you want to get to DTW in the interim, I think it's about a 2-3 month wait once you hit the line.
