For the last 6 months I've moved up about 25-35 numbers a month. Some could be leaving for other companies but I think most are retirements. During my Indoc they told us they were planning on averaging 700 new hires or so per year for the next 10 years. Those projections change all the time though. It seems like delta is perfectly happy to remain slightly understaffed and fix it with greenslips and white slips, it probably saves them money.
I moved up 72 spots in 2 months on property. It's well over double the retirement plan. I do, however, think the company has already factored that into hiring. Minimal growth this year is planned, so the numbers are to get ahead of early retirements. Just a guess.
