The tech portion bears no weight on you getting hired. It is only performed to gauge your personality and to verify that you're not a absolute moron.
Based on my experience, all parts of the interview were simply to make sure you have the experience your paperwork shows, make sure you're not a complete tool, and more importantly, make sure you're somebody that they can spend a 17 day rotation with.
