Pilots are to blame. A couple decades ago, mainline pilots sold scope for a few dollars. Pilots created the regionals because they sold scope. If the regionals were limited to 19 seat turboprops still, it would be a different world.

Wait... Wait a minute. Certain pilot groups sold the other pilot groups down the river for bigger rjs more recently as well right? Isn't that the same?
The mentality of "I want what's mine right now" is what kills any sort of pilot unity amongst regionals and majors.
