The 1500 hour rule isn't a FAA regulation. It's federal law. As in, an act of Congress. Not some bureaucratic, whimsical decree.
How people don't understand that is mind-bottling.
FAA regulations are created under Title 14 of the Code of Federal Regulations (CFR). Any reg is already federal law.
For the record, I also hate it when my mind gets all bottled up...whatever that means.
