There are plenty of A320 sims around America with qualified instructors who could teach new hires with a few days of basic training. Send them back to Vegas for a warm-up sim and a checkride. Happens all the time at the regionals. Compass even had POIs from other FSDOs doing fed rides to keep things moving along.
For whatever reason mgmt has decided it isn't economically required and it's better to let people linger at home for a month here and there... But that doesn't mean things can't change when needed.
