Lawyers, I think we could pay maybe 18,000 because there is not the same amount of training as a doctor or pilot. Lets see how many applicants we get. We have been hiring thousands of pilots at 21000 for the last few years but it has recently gone to about 35000. There are still lots of pilots sitting at home because they are not going to work for 35000.
Try and hire a secretary for 21000 a year in Saint Louis and let me know how long the person stays if you can find one.
The market will set the price and the price is over 100k for a captain. Sorry Compass, Gojet, and Republic, if you want to hire pilots you had better be prepared to pay them, and not just the first year guys. Take the clue from Endeavor and Envoy.
Am I wrong?
Good post. My personal take on it, is that the regional airline industry is probably about 2-3 years away (maybe less) from paying $50,000 per year to start. I hope it happens, but as pilots we've always been our own worst enemies in the past....."will fly for food" or something like that.
