What are the advantages of the current arrangement, rather than paying out-of-pocket to get to your domicile and writing it all off?

Conservatively, I'd anticipate an additional tax liability on 6-8K of imputed income per year. What is the impetus for the office to shop the most economical fare (as i have skin in the game to pay for it)? Essentially, they are spending the money on your behalf, so is it all still a legal deduction?
