APRIL 2016 SCHEDULES
Fellow DFW Pilots,
Your LEC 083 Leadership Team is pleased to announce that the preliminary results of the April 2016 DFW monthly schedules are a considerable improvement from previous months' schedules. The DFW EMJ schedules include a greater selection of trip variety, higher average monthly flight time, and higher average days off. Also, instances of having only two days off in-between blocks of days at work have been significantly reduced, restoring cadence and helping commuters.
Two weeks ago, your LEC083 Leadership challenged senior management to work more cooperatively with the Association to rectify the many difficulties faced by our pilots, especially as it pertained to schedules. It appears that management is finally listening and taking action.
To improve the quality of the schedules, senior management has reinstated CDO/Split Duty trips back into the scheduling solution for April. As you may know, management pulled CDO’s from the schedules in early 2015 because of concerns they were negatively affecting staffing. However, the inclusion of CDO’s in the April schedules has revealed the opposite effect by increasing pilot productivity and efficiency, yielding the Company a higher staffing margin overall.
Please be aware that April is a trial. While the Association has not bargained anything for the April schedules, management will be sensitive if and when CDO’s drop into open time, which could reduce reserve productivity. We kindly ask pilots to consider bidding a different line choice other than CDO’s if you do not ultimately plan on flying those CDO trips. The actions of those pilots who are awarded CDO lines will determine how future schedules are built.
Your LEC 083 Leadership Team would like to take this opportunity to thank Envoy Management for doing the right thing in making improvements to the monthly schedules. Additionally we would like to thank the scheduling planners and scheduling volunteers for their long hours of dedication and hard work.
The improvements represented in this trial will provide much needed relief for our pilots and, while the schedules are still not perfect, we hope we can continue to build upon these scheduling improvements in the coming months. We also hope management will see the value in such schedules and will continue working more cooperatively with the Association moving forward.
In Unity,
Neal & Kyle
