IRS rules do not allow you to write off commuting expenses. They base everything on you living in your domicile and if you really live somewhere else it is a second home. See IRS Pub. 463. Don't worry, Atlas will book the cheapest ticket they can find, they are spending their money. I've argued about riding Frontier through Denver to save 60 dollars. I pointed out their checked bag fee would eat the savings from a non stop airline I have status on. I was told the bag fee came out of a different account and didn't matter.
Thanks so much, Friend. It's a reasonable cost and schedule to commute from LAX to ANC if purchased properly and in-advance (provided I am awarded a 747 slot).
