Well, you're kidding yourself if you think a bankruptcy is bad. Try losing two jobs in six months by no fault of your own (thanks American, and Vanguard). I called my attorney and asked if there was any relief and low and behold I became an airline executive. Yep, bankruptcy. I'm not ashamed as I was living within my means with a wife and two kids. It was really nice to relieve debt and stress and I didn't lose one wink of sleep. Kept the house, two cars to boot! Oh yeah, then I used government money to get a 737 type rating. Thanks, Higher Power. They are highly recommended.
I share this information publicy to let you know that it's not always a bad thing. I have sold real estate and after two years of a BK you can requalify for home loans. Sure, you're not going to get the best rate.
One last thing . . . I have an EXCELLENT credit score now and have no problems getting credit when needed.
As I said before, I'm not ashamed and never will be.
