I like this job. It isn't easy at all, but I really do like it. That said, what I don't like is the turn that Atlas management has made this year toward a very short sighted, dark, and greedy place.

For the past few years, there was abundant optimism and excitement as the Atlas pilots here celebrated our company's growth and successes. The rising tide was lifting all ships in our rapidly expanding fleet. Our negotiations had started and we were looking forward to a good fight to win a industry standard contract. It was all possible.

Now, the Southern Air purchase, which could have turned out to be a real morale booster and a win-win situation for Atlas pilots, Southern pilots, AND Atlas shareholders, has turned into a sucker punch designed to catastrophically erode our pay and work rules. Atlas intends to amalgamate the Atlas and Southern contracts. Amalgamate; A legal but unconscionable way to bypass contract negotiations and a despicable way to treat hard working employees.

So, yes, my app is in at United, American, and UPS. While I despise the thought of another job search and the stress that my family will have to endure while I change airlines again, I will not continue to do this extremely difficult and dangerous job while I watch my future here deteriorate.
