start sims with?
In other words, after indoc you get sent home with study material on systems, etc. Do they expect you to return for sim qual with a basic level of knowledge or be a genius/PhD? Do we need to be cramming 8 hrs a day in between indoc and sims?
One variable is how long you have between the end of indoc and the start of sim training. If it is one week you will be cramming a good bit. That said, like others have pointed out, we have an equivalent to the MQF - the LOD. When you come back you should know those, but you will have a small amount of time to get some help before you take the electronic systems test. Then you move on through flight training devices (mostly functioning cockpit models), cockpit procedures trainers (sims without vis or motion), then maneuvers training in the full up sim, followed by putting it all together and flying simulated trips in the sim. Take your checkride and off to the line.
Keep in mind that we have only had a handful of training failures in the past few years and as far as I am aware none of them were due to an inability to learn or fly the jet. You will be fine if you stay focused.
