It's not just Skywest that's chipping away at the ASA lift. See those DELTA 717s in Atlanta? Every third one you see go by used to be an ASA flight.
And just look around D Concourse next week. See all those white haired ASA CAs? They don't have their apps out. The past 10 years in this industry have cornered them into being 50+ year old regional captains. Best choice is to hold out and hope they see retirement or just go down with the boat and bleed as much money from the company as they possibly can before they're unemployed.
As long as SkyWest can advertise ACTUAL movement (none of this fakey 8 upgrades per month BullSh*t ASA is trying to sell) and/or growth to prospective pilots, they'll be the airline to weather the pilot shortage while the companies that are stagnating and sliding backwards will continue to hermorage pilots and struggle to replace them.
Get with a winning company before you waste years of your career.
